Fall/Winter projects

I've been very lax about posting the blog lately, so I have some catching up to do.....first pic today is of a cute little stock pot with a simple "chicken soup" theme...adapted from an old "Farm Animals" book...not sure of the original designer...
This is something I adapted from a stitchery pattern from (I believe) Primitive Stitches....cute little reindeer....stitchery patterns are a great source of inspiration!!
A couple of little wooden plaques....adapted from a Renee Mullins candle pillar pattern
You can never have enough sheep....or reindeer....or both....
Cute little cat ornaments from a Cyndi Combs pattern.....a real hot seller at the shows this year!!

I am finished with my craft shows for 2011. It has been a very busy year as I added a few new shows. Check back for updates to the 2012 show schedule.....the only definites right now are Spanaway Lake HS the 2nd weekend in Nov and Winterfest Thanksgiving weekend 2012.....will also probably be doing at least one Funky Junk Sisters show, and one or two Country Creations shows....am also applying with Country Chicks in Rochester (love love love their shows!!) so 2012 looks to be a busy year too!!!

Check back with the blog for new products and schedule updates, or follow us on Facebook....am hoping to have some news regarding a new "enterprise" after the first of the year.....

First craft show of the season was a success!!

This pic shows my booth at the Country Creations show in Bellevue this weekend. Had a great show, looking forward to doing more shows with Sandy next year.
This is one of the new pieces I finished for the show. It is an old soup stock pot, done up in an adaptation of a Kim Klassen pattern.
This is from a Terrye French "Painting With Friends" pattern.....the wood piece is something I "rescued" from a building that was being renovated.....got a bunch of scrap pieces to "repurpose"
This is a little set of nesting boxes, done with simple little prim scenes...
And one last picture of my Country Creations booth.....I really really stuffed the booth as it was small....plus this is a "boutique" show, meaning I am not manning the booth and re-stocking as things sell, so I kind of have to "overfill" so open spots are not so obvious....

This show was a great success, so I am going to be painting like crazy to restock for my remaining shows. Next up is the Funky Junk Sisters "Junk Salvation" Vintage Flea Market Nov 4 & 5 in Puyallup. Will have lots of vintage "smalls" for this show, plus am working on a few painted furniture pieces.

Beginning with the Funky Junk show, I will be displaying a "Four Season" chair that I painted. I am raffling off the chair to raise money for a charity I work with, Pierce County Santa Cops. Tickets will be $2 each or 3/$5. It is a single chair with four different (removable) seats for the four seasons. I will display the chair and sell the tickets at all my Pierce County shows this year. Check back for pictures.

Be sure and check us out on Facebook, www.facebook.com/pages/primworks

Back soon!!

Let the craft show season begin.......

Has been a while since I posted, so have several pictures....first is a Santa from a Terrye French pattern....this is done on a mink board, and the reverse side has a darling pumpkin and crow....not sure if I posted that pic on the blog or not.....
Next picture shows some of the snowman "army" I have painted up.....
I call these "mood blocks"......just turn them to reflect your mood for the day!!!
These are some cute little resin snowmen and Santa ornaments....from a Susan Kelley pattern from Artists Club
And last, our first class project of the year......little "ghostie gourds"....my dog loved these, she thought they were a play toy.......so very happy to be back painting with my "classmates"....I missed them!!

Had a chance to hit the decorative painting convention trade floor in Portland 2 weeks ago, got some great patterns and surfaces......plus this past weekend was filled with all the awesome sales and shops in the Chehalis/Rochester/Olympia area.....Country Chicks, Pole Barn Primitives, Deep Creek Barn, Country Shed....we hit them all!!! Have lots more goodies to "re-purpose"!!

My first craft show of the season is Country Creations at Vasa Park Resort in Bellevue, Oct 13-14-15. It is a boutique show, so I won't have to "man" my booth, just set-up, work one shift, and tear down.....

Second show will be the Funky Junk Sisters "Junk Salvation" show in Puyallup....so much fun!! Check out their website for ticket pre-sales for early entry!!

Be sure and check out our PrimWorks page on Facebook!!

Lots of pictures today, since I haven't posted in soooo long!! First is a cute little canvas in a simple wood frame, adapted from an older Kim Klassen pattern....I sooo miss her designs!!
Next is three square plaques, adapted from a Sue Allemand ornament pattern
This piece is from a Deb Antonick/Terrye French pattern...I'm planning to do a Santa or snowman on the reverse to make it a 2 season piece.
Love this guy!! This is "Spooky and Friend", also from a Deb Antonick/Terrye French pattern, done on an old cast-iron griddle pan.
And finally, another little canvas adapted from another Kim Klassen pattern. I have also done this pattern on an old book. Very simple and serene.

Be sure and check out my facebook page, PrimWorks (www.facebook.com/pages/primworks).

Prim kitchen

Just finished this cute little coffee pot.....adapted from a Terrye French pattern, it matches the candle keepers I posted previously.....this side has a darling little crow...
and this side has a pear and a prim little sheep!!! Add in a penny rug on the top, and it makes a wonderful primitive accent for the kitchen. Can't you just imagine it sitting on your countertop?? Hmmmmm....this may have to come live permanently in my kitchen.......

Santas Santas everywhere!!

Found these fabulous old sewing machine cabinet drawers at the Meeker Mansion sale this past weekend!!!! I just had to have them....now I just have to figure out what to do with them.....

Will probably paint at least some of them....have a couple great "Painting With Friends" patterns that would look really cute....but I'm open to suggestions.........

Be sure and check out the PrimWorks Facebook page....posted oodles of pics!!

Also, update on the Funky Junk Sisters Junk Salvation show in November....will be a Friday/Saturday show so mark your calendars!! Nov 4th and 5th!!

Crows, Primitives and Christmas

Have been painting like crazy lately....today's pictures show some of the products I have completed recently....first is a simple little canvas with a cute little saying
Next picture shows three "candle stands" from a Terrye French pattern.....each will have a little votive candle to go with it.....they combine some of my favorite elements-----crows, sheep, and penny rugs
And last is a "re-purposed" cupboard door painted with an older Terrye French nutcracker pattern. Very "prim"!!

And exciting news.....I now have a PrimWorks Facebook page!! Check us out and give us a "like"!! Still adding content, mostly just pictures now, but as we build a following we will add extra features, maybe do some monthly drawings. We shall see how things go......

Very different things......

A couple of quick pics tonite....first shows one of the Terrye French "Painting With friends" patterns....I just love anything pumpkin!!!
Second pic shows a cute little sign based on a Gail Anderson "Tolehaven" pattern....but of course I had to "prim" it up a little!!! Amazing what a differnce a little gel stain makes!!

Finishing up several other projects...more "Painting With Friends", a Betty Bowers bag, and of course, my project from the seminar with Jamie Mills-Price. Back with more pictures soon.

Catching up.......

Has been awhile since I posted....sorry!! Was in Oregon for Jamie Mills-Price's summer seminar (sooooo much fun!!!!!) and busy busy busy since I got back....
First two pics show a cute little baby shoe I painted, adapted from a pattern by Marie Provost (one of Terrye French's painting "friends")......I think it turned out great!! Working on a couple of others, both holiday and regular designs.
Last pic is of some painted softballs, from a Terrye French "Painting With Friends" pattern....a really different surface to prep and paint on (reminder to self----do NOT try and spray paint a softball......) but in the end they turned out adorable....large size softballs will be selling for $9.95 at the upcoming shows, and the smaller size for $8.95-9.50. Working on more patterns, including some holiday designs. My problem is sooooo many ideas and patterns to paint and so little time to do it in.....

Have more pics to post in the coming days of our projects from Jamie's seminar, additional pieces I finished before Oregon, and some awesome Christmas things and cool "junk" I found at the yard sales.......

And pumpkins!!
And sheep (with Americana!!)

Just ordered several patterns from Diane Kellogg of Oil Creek Originals....darling snowmen, etc on ice skates, one of my favorite surfaces. Can't wait to get started!! Especially since I found several pairs of skates this weekend at a fabulous sale in UP. Thanks to "Drew" of "Dad and Drew's Funky Junk"!!

Going to Oregon this weekend for a painting seminar with Jamie Mills-Price. Her stuff is so sweet!!

May not be able to post again before I leave, but will be back by Monday or Tues with more pics

Painting Renee Mullins......

Just a quick post today to show off two new Renee Mullins "Plum Purdy" pieces I finished last week.....
First picture is an adaptation of her "Bless Our Winter Home" pattern....I adapted it to a wood piece I already had....
Second picture is from her "Snow Drifter" pattern packet....her original was painted on an old suitcase (which I love!!!!!!) but since I didn't have any suitable, I substituted this framed wood piece.....I just love her snowmen!!!

It is beautiful sunny weather in the Puget Sound area today, so I am headed outside.....I hate yardwork, but if I have to do it, I would rather do it when the sun is shining....plus it is perfect weather to spray-prime some metal pieces I have been wanting to paint :)

Working on some Terrye French "Painting With Friends" pieces, hope to post those pics in a day or two. I just love primitives......

It's Starting to Look Alot Like Christmas!!

I've been in a Christmas mood the last several days....hence the holiday theme to today's post......

First picture is of some cute rusty tin cans painted with four different little snowmen...from a Sue Allemand pattern.

Next is a door crown featuring a Santa by MaryJo Tuttle from one of her "Tuttle's Touches" books. Mine is a little more "distressed" than her pattern. but that is what I love....
the wood came from Country Expressions in Purdy...they are clearing everything out and closing up shop :(

Lots more Christmas in the works, check back soon for more.

Sue Allemand and Kim Klassen

It has been a while since I posted.....have been dealing with a very sick kitty and busy busy busy at work.....the kitty went to kitty-heaven yesterday and my audit is done so now I have time to breathe....

Several signs and some Christmas stuff to post today, all based on patterns by Sue Allemand and Kim Klassen....

First two pictures show signs from Kim Klassen patterns, done on old wine crate boards.

Fourth pic is also based on one of Kim's designs.....love the saying!!! Plus you can never go wrong with a saltbox house.......

Last picture shows three different tin pockets painted with snowmen faces, from a Sue Allemand design. Loved these so much I painted 2 of each!!

Am working on several more Christmas pieces and
some "everyday" things too. Trying hard to build up stock for the upcoming shows.

As of right now, I am committed to 5 shows this fall/winter (Country Creations in Bellevue in October, plus Funky Junk Sisters Junk Salvation, Spanaway Lake High School, Renton Community Center and Peninsula High School in November.) Busy busy busy.....

Hope to post some new pics later this week. Check back soon!!

Snowmen on the loose.......

I couldn't resist painting some snowmen now that my last spring show is done. The darling little rusty tin buckets were perfect for these Barbara Lloyd snowmen. Add in a little greenery or fill with candy, and they will make the perfect country accent!
And I love the faces on these snowies!! This pattern is in the new Betty Bowers "Down Home" book.
Spent most of yesterday finding lots of new goodies to paint. Hit the "Designer Disaster" sale in Bothell, then headed to Country Expressions in Purdy. Sad that they are closing down, but got some wonderful pieces. Will definitely be going back soon to get more.....

Working on lots of new pieces, will be posting new pics soon. Sta tuned!!

Junk Salvation

Today's post shows pictures of my booth at last week's Junk Salvation show, put on by the Funky Junk Sisters. What a wonderful show!!!
My booth contained the usual mix of vintage "finds" and hand-painted primitive crafts.
This pic shows a little Americana vignette I put together.
Now that Junk Salvation is done, I am busy preparing for fall and holiday shows....that means punkins and snowmen!!!! Just finished a set of rusty tin snowmen buckets, and working on some snowman ornies. Have some "punkin" stuff in the works too!!

Big changes are in the works for the blog!!! My "webmaster" (AKA son-in-law Scott) is working on some fun updates....pretty soon, if you see something you like, you will be able to purchase directly from me, and not have to wait for a show!! Also, thanks to the wonders of an IPad and Intuit, I am now able to accept credit/debit cards!!

A couple of calendar updates coming too....will be doing another Country Creations show in Bellevue in mid-October, and a yet-to-be-announced show in the first week of November.

Back in a few days!!
