A different look......

If you have been to my blog before, you will notice it has a very different look......due to an unexpected problem with the source where we got our "background", it had to be changed and we couldn't find something comparable on such short notice......

This is just a temporary look, I hope to have the new "look" done in a few weeks...my "webmaster"/son-in-law is really busy at work right now so the changes will take some time....

Today's post show two projects I finished recently....first is a rustic sign on a slat from an old crate....very simple and "prim"

Second is adapted from a new pattern from Terrye French's "Painting With Friends" group.....this was done on a framed rusty corrugated tin piece....a bit tricky to paint on, but a very unique and totally primitive surface.

Haven't been able to update the calendar, but I have a show upcoming at the end of March....it is a Country Creations show at Pickering Barn in Issaquah, March 31st thru April 2nd....my first time at one of Sandy's shows and I am really excited!! I am actually taking vacation next week to work on more projects :)

Stay tuned for more updates!!

How time flies........

.....when I am having fun painting!!!!

Didn't realize it had been so long since I posted, was really focused on getting some "unfinished" pieces done!!

First picture is a cute little resin crow on a pumpkin pedestal...original pattern by Mary Jo Tuttle, just added a few "touches".....

Second picture is a class project from a few years ago that has been sitting unvarnished on the shelf.....needed a little background touch-up after getting banged around.....it's from a Jamie Mills-Price pattern....she has such a fabulous imagination!!

Our next class project is one of Shara Reiner's "seasonal" chairs....very funky!!

Am also working on a new Terrye French "Painting With Friends" pattern; slow going but I am determined to get it finished this weekend!!

Check back in a few days to see my progress!!

Repurposed Primitives!!

I love to "repurpose" old things, and give them new life. With a little bit of paint and imagination, anything can become an awesome accent piece.

The first pic is an old metal scale. When I bought it, it was a very ugly brown color----not at all attractive. I painted the whole thing in antique white and green, added a simple little rooster and some "stitch" lines, then antiqued everything with gel stain. Goodbye ugly brown, hello pretty and prim!! Would look great in a country-style kitchen.

Second pic is of a great vintage lidded basket. I found this piece at a garage sale last year. The lid was covered in a padded canvas with a truly hideous gold-colored farm scene. Ugly 60s vintage. But I just painted over it with the flower basket pattern and I love it!! This is an older Kim Klassen pattern and I think it really suits this piece.

Just a couple more days til the Funky Junk Sisters "Junk Salvation" show in the Portland, OR area. I'm not sure I'll make it, I have sooooooo much to do......but I'm sure it's gonna be fab!!

Junk Salvation!!

Just a quick post to remind everyone about the Funky Junk Sister's Junk Salvation! show this weekend. They are takin' their show on the road to Hillsboro, OR and I am sure it will be just as awesome as their Puyallup shows.

Go to their blog (funkyjunksisters.blogspot.com) and print off a coupon for discounted admission. It is a Saturday-only show this time.

Be back tomorrow or Thursday with pics of two new projects.
