Where has spring gone??

We had such nice weather a couple of weeks ago....what happened??? It is soooo dreary outside today. My rhodies and daffodils are blooming, but not a bit of blue sky to be seen. I don't mind the cool weather, but I would sure like to be done with the grey skies....... I guess it could be worse----they are still getting snow in other places!!

Here is another of the vintage-y signboards I just finished. Like I posted before, this one is quite a bit larger.....it's done on an old cupboard door that I picked up at the ReHarvest Center. (Thank you Lizbeth for pointing me their direction!!)

No goodies from garage sales this weekend-----had to work Saturday morning and then visit another bridal store with Chrissie in the afternoon. (Thank God the bridal gown drama is over and she made a choice!! David's Bridal rocks!!)
Lots of other projects in the works------an older Kim Klassen sampler on canvas, another sampler with a saltbox house and sheep on an old cupboard door, a swan on an old wood bowl....lots of goodies. If the weather would co-operate, I could spray-prime some coffee and tea pots and get those painted ;)

Mulling over the idea of doing a flea market or farmers market or two this summer....I've always loved wandering around those kind of sales....just not sure about the outdoor venues.....

Countdown to Funky Junk is 45 days!!! If you like the vintage-y flea market sales, check out "apartmenttherapy.com".....they have a list of the area shows with dates, admission prices, etc.

More again soon!!

More "vintage-y" signboards

Back again with another vintage-y signboard. I love this kind of stuff for decorating the kitchen!! You don't even have to like coffee.....personally, I can't stand the stuff, but I really like the look of these "coffee house" style signs.

I recently got another stash of wood wine crates, so I have lots of signboard material. I am sure my neighbors think I am nuts, out there with a hammer tearing apart these perfectly good wood boxes, but you gotta do what you gotta do!!

I also finished another signboard, this time on an old cupboard door. A little larger than usual, but it turned out really cool. Will post pics of that tomorrow. (I tried tonight but somehow it got lost........)

If you are in the area this weekend, you have to check out the "Junky Friends" sale in Yelm. They had some fab deals the last time....got a great prim shelf to use as a booth display and a bunch of other cute things. Hope I can scoot out early from work tomorrow and get in on the Friday deals this time!!

Fifty days and counting to the Funky Junk Sisters Vintage Flea Market in Puyallup!! You gotta check this one out, wonderful old "stuff" from a great group of vendors!!

Back soon!!!

Beautiful spring day........

Weather is absolutely gorgeous today!!! Not too warm, not too cool. Had to go out and check out the sales, but didn't find much. Guess that is a sign that I should be home painting :)

Finished this fab wooden bread box several days ago. I am really happy with how it turned out. Stocking up for Funky Junk!! 55 days and counting!!

Just got a new "stock" of wood wine crates to repurpose. Some will be painted as is, some to be disassembled for sign boards. Nice to know someone who knows someone who has access to cool stuff......

Am working on a couple of vintage-y signboards now. Just need to antique them up a bit. Hope to have them finished later today. So I guess it is back to the paintin' cave for me!!!

Christmas again........

I can't seem to totally get away from Christmas....I actually started these ornaments several months ago (like November......) but just got them finished. Unfortunately the pics are a little dark, but the outside portion is painted a nice dark blue with snowflakes, and the word "PEACE" is written on the dangling section.

My daughter Chrissie was recently engaged, so I am spending alot of time looking at wedding "stuff". Who knew there were that many options for ring bearer pillows........We do know that we are going to make alot of the decorations, favors, etc ourselves....that way she can have exactly what she wants. I just have to rein in the primitive side of me.....I don't think crackling and rust are her idea of the perfect modern wedding accent.....

I recently finished a few other projects that I will feature in the next few days.......a hand-painted address book, a really cool prim painted wooden bread box, and a cute little Raggedy Ann pic. I actually forced myself to stay home and paint today rather than go garage sale-ing....of course the weather was kinda icky anyways.

My future son-in-law is a total computer geek, and he really wants to build me a website.....just not sure I am ready for that, but we will see what happens in the coming weeks. Found some really great graphics on the "Hattie's Workshop" site. I am going to use some of them for new business cards and hang tags.

Off to paint!!

Beautiful weather for Saturday in March......

Weather was absolutely beautiful, I should have been home working in the yard, but frankly, I hate playing in the dirt.....that's I why I hired Everardo, and he does a great job. So since it was too nice to stay inside, I went out garage sale-ing. OMG, did I get some great deals!!!!!!!!!! Found a fab sale in University Place and picked up a wonderful old trunk, enamelware pots, wooden bowls, a chair, a great old wood tool cabinet and on and on and on.....sale was so great we unloaded the Nissan and went back for more!!! We filled the car three times before called it quits for the day. I should take a pic of the stuff piled on my front porch........

Found an ad on Craigslist yesterday for an old warehouse full of junk including wood scraps, tables, and fabric.....I love wood, so I was game!!! Chrissie wasn't too keen on the idea, but I made her come in anyways........one of the the former tenants used to make kids wood furniture, and we found a lot of really nice wood that I could use.....of course, we were covered in sawdust by the time we were done, but I thought it was well worth it!!! This was stuff that would have been tossed, so we saved it from the landfill and I can turn it into something great! And best of all, it was FREE!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to get started paintin' and primmin' up my goodies, so enough for now, gotta get to work!!!
