"one little word"

Kim Klassen has been talking alot on her blog about the "one little word" concept. She chose the word "soar" for herself for 2010. I have been thinking and thinking, and the word I am chosing is "renewal". This fits my life for so many reasons right now. First, the end of 2009 was so so ugly for the law enforcement community I "belong" to, but I know 2010 will be better and we can start to heal. Second, I have started really paying attention to my health---eating better, exercising a bit, and taking my vitamins and prescription meds every day without fail. Something that is long overdue, but I am determined to do better. Third, so many of the surfaces I use for my crafts are what I call "found".....an wood cupboard door, an old tin coffee pot, a beat-up suitcase. Add a little paint and creativity, and they have a new life.

What word would you pick??

The long-awaited pictures.......

As you can tell from the pictures, I really have been painting!!!!! Haven't gotten away from the Christmas/Winter theme much yet, but I'm working on it.......

Both these pieces are from patterns done by Kim Klassen, adapted to fit surfaces I already had. Just love Kim's stuff, her "Weekly eDition" pattern club has been awesome!!

Each day I get more and more into painting again. I have set a goal of at least 6 new pieces per month and finishing 2 "old" projects in preparation for craft shows. So far this month I have 3 new pieces finished, and 2 more just waiting for antiquing....now I just have to get at the unfinished stuff....of course, it can't compete with my overachiever friend Lisbeth who already has 30 ornaments finished!!

Back in a day or two. Got to get back to painting!!!

Paintin' away.....

Sorry, don't have pics today, hope to have some tomorrow. Have spent most of the weekend painting, and got several projects done, and more in the works. Some Christmas stuff for shows later on, but some just because they called to me......

I haven't been in the mood to paint.....just too much happening....went to Kent Mundell's funeral on Tuesday, what a sad sad sad day. But I hope now that this is done, we can move on, as a dept and a community. This weekend was the first time I really felt energized while painting....nice to have that feeling back.

Check back in a day or so for new pics.
